The 23rd Prague International Film Festival – Febiofest will take place in Prague from March 17 to 25, 2016. This year's Febiofest took place mainly in the CineStar Praha - Andel multiplex and then as Regional Echoes of Febiofest in fourteen Czech cities (Brno, Czech Budejovice, Decin, Hradec Králové, Jihlava, Karlovy Vary, Karvina, Liberec, Mikulov, Mladá Boleslav Olomouc, Pardubice, Plzen and Zlin). It was attended by more than 68,000 visitors, which is several hundred more than last year. This year the organizers also held selected screenings at CineStar Praha - Černý Most which generated great interest.

The last screening of IFF Prague – Febiofest and the Regional Echoes of Febiofest takes place on April 17 in Zlin and features Still Alice with Julianne Moore. At the 22nd edition of Febiofest, five Kristian Awards for Contribution to World Cinema were handed out. The prize was presented to actress Kim Novak, director Jean-Jacques Annaud and actors Alan Rickman and Jeroen Krabbé. Director John Madden received the Kristian at the Closing Ceremony. Madden’s brand new film The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, starring Judi Dench and Richard Gere, concluded this year’s Febiofest.

The 22nd Febiofest ended March 27th, and now viewers across the country can see selected films from the main program in fourteen Czech cities (Brno, Czech Budejovice, Decin, Hradec Králové, Jihlava, Karlovy Vary, Karvina, Liberec, Mikulov, Mladá Boleslav Olomouc, Pardubice, Plzen and Zlin). The Regional Echoes of Febiofest will begin with A Little Chaos, starring Kate Winslet and Still Alice, starring Julianne Moore. Echoes of Febiofest will finish in Zlin on April 17th

Tickets for the Regional Echoes of Febiofest are on sale at the box offices in particular regional cinemas and may be available online on their websites. Tickets for screenings which take place in any CineStar cinema are also available on our website at www.febiofest.cz/en/regions/program.

The winner of the International Film Festival Prague - Febiofest drama is Life in a Fishbowl, which won twelve nominations, including Best Film, for the annual prizes of the Icelandic Film Academy The director of the winning film, Baldvin Zophoníasson, has arrived from his native Iceland to attend Febiofest’s Closing Ceremony. Life in a Fishbowl presents a naturalistic and unbiased view of life in Reykjavik before the pain of the economic crisis where the heroine, a mother and kindergarten teacher, must moonlight as a prostitute. The dramatic story of surprising clarity and truth impressed the Febiofest jury headed by Vlasta Chramostová, and the especially powerful story that touches the viewer internally, as well as the subtle script and excellent performances

Here’s how to make your own list of movies to see at Febiofest. You can even print it out to take to the box office or click to immediately buy your tickets online.

Enter your email address to log in. Decide if you wish to receive newsletters from us.

Click on a gold star, and your film will be saved to your personal program! Your list will be saved so you can see it at anytime after you log in. If you change your mind, just click the X, next to the film in your list, and it will be deleted.

If you want to buy tickets online, go to “My Program”, click on the name of the first film, chose the screening, and click BUY TICKET. You’ll be transferred to the CineStar website, where you can chose your seats. Then click to “Chose another ticket” and you will go back to “My Program” and can repeat the process. When you select your last seat on the CineStar webpage, go to “Continue” and you can buy all tickets at once.
